Jonah Ray Tries to Figure Out Vegan Meat in New HIDDEN AMERICA Clip

Nerdist’s own Jonah Ray has been having a heck of a year. Not only has he co-hosted two seasons of The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail on Comedy Central, but he’s also the new host of the upcoming revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Now, this ambitious third-of-the-Nerdist Podcast can add “travel host” to that list of achievements.

Those quotation marks are actually quite important here. Hidden America with Jonah Ray is a travel show where, as Jonah has said, “the places are real, but the people are not.” The above clip explains this much better as Jonah visits a restaurant in San Francisco run by Dan Ling, played by Fresh off the Boat’s Randall Park.

Ling is the owner of “Not” Meat, the vegan restaurant known for its meat. Yes, you heard that correctly. Ling loves meat, but also the vegan sensibilities. What transpires is one of the most confusing, yet hilarious explanations of a restaurant menu I have ever seen. The only thing stranger than the menu and how it’s prepared is Ling’s extreme stance against soy and any of its products.

If this is what we have in store from Jonah Ray’s travels, then I am definitely tuning in.

Hidden America with Jonah Ray begins airing June 2nd on seeso.com
