Jon Hamm Is Set to Guest Star as an Ad Executive on SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS

Mad Men star Jon Hamm finally won himself an Emmy Award for his outstanding work on the series, but despite that success, he’s still never seen a pineapple under the sea. That will soon change, though, as Nickelodeon revealed that Hamm is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of SpongeBob Squarepants, as “a charismatic head ad executive” with a “sharp mind and devastating charm.” That role isn’t exactly a stretch for Hamm, especially since it is named Don Grouper, but it is sure to be a fun Mad Men call back and perhaps the closest thing we will see to Don Draper outside of Netflix binge-watching marathons.

Nickelodeon also provided a character sketch of Don Grouper to Vulture, and he looks pretty much as you would expect a Don Draper-inspired fish to, rocking a well-fitted suit and a confident grin. There’s no word on the exact date when the episode will debut, although it will air at some point next year, and we also know that in the episode, Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob seek out Grouper for some business advice. Maybe Plankton finally hatches a scheme effective enough to actually impact the Krusty Krab’s business in the long-term? Maybe the “My Leg!” guy is finally suing after all the times he’s been injured at the Krusty Krab and they need a strong bounce-back PR campaign?

Whatever Hamm’s role ends up being, we know he’ll play it well, based on his past appearances on animated programming, which includes Archer, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, The Simpsons, Metalocalypse, Bob’s Burgers, and this scene from American Dad:
