Jon Hamm Circling Sci-Fi Adaptation MARJORIE PRIME

After proving that he hasn’t forgotten how to be funny in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp on Netflix, Jon Hamm fans may be getting to see more of the man formerly known as Don Draper on the big screen in the coming year. His film Keeping Up with The Joneses will be coming out early next year, but it seems Hamm may also sign on to an adaptation of Jordan Harrison’s stage play Marjorie Prime, according to Deadline.

A Pulitzer Prize finalist, the play tells the story of Marjorie, an aging and arthritic violinist battling old age and memory loss, and her life with a hologram of her perpetually 30-to-40-year-old husband, Walter, as well as holograms of her daughter and son-in-law. Its a story that plays on love, loss, and the fragility of memory. Deadline bills the story as a “dramedy” so there will be some laughs, but, be sure to bring some tissues with you too, because you will need them.

We all know Hamm is more than capable in the world of drama. Seven seasons of Mad Men should be more than enough to prove that. Many also know that Hamm is no stranger to science fiction either, with an amazingly memorable performance in last year’s Christmas episode of BBC4’s Black Mirror. Once you add the running rumors of Hamm potentially playing uber-villain Negan on AMC’s The Walking Dead, this could very well shape up to be one hell of a 2016 for him.

Marjorie Prime, which is being adapted and directed by Michael Almereyda, is expected to start production in October, and release sometime in 2016. It will be produced by Uri Singer and BB Film Productions.
