John Oliver Reveals the Shocking Conspiracy of Cadbury Creme Eggs

How do you honor the most religious of days for billions of people the world over? With a good ol’ fashioned YouTube video conspiracy video about an iconic Easter candy. In this web exclusive from Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver had “the guts to explain” the nefarious reason a certain chocolate treats show up every January in time for the spring holiday.

“I’m talking of course about the conspiracy behind Cadbury Creme Eggs, and if you mean, ‘Oh, are you talking about why they aren’t available year round?’ then they have already gotten to you, turn this off now, you’re a tool of the establishment, and you’re too far gone to wake up. The rest of you, open your eyes! Open your eyes America!”

That’s right, Cadbury Creme Eggs—which Oliver described as tasting like “mermaid placenta covered in candle wax”—are at the center of his vast conspiracy: one that involves Christmas, gold, Germany, and Free Masons. So who benefits from this yearly influx of Easter candy?

The Illuminati of course, made up of famous musicians who all see their pockets lined with the annual release of the eggs. Oh, and also Al Sharpton. Somehow Al Sharpton is also involved.

To be perfectly honest, this isn’t nearly as nuts as some other YouTube conspiracy theories (the kind that Oliver was satirizing here), and I have always had a sneaking suspicion Jay-Z was connected to Cradbury Creme Eggs one way or another. What else are he and Beyonce hiding? Does it have anything to do why I can never find the super large Chunky bars?

What’s your favorite, crazy conspiracy theory? Share it with us in the comments below…which hopefully “they” aren’t monitoring .
