Update! Managing Editor Rachel Heine has a Nerdist Special Report on the Toy Story 4 sequel and its writers, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack.
What do you think about Toy Story 4? Let me know in the comments below or on Twitter.
Toy Story fans likely thought the story was over for the beloved franchise, at least as far as numbered films go, but Disney’s just dropped a major bombshell. Not only will there be a Toy Story 4, but it’s on track for a June 2017 release, and John Lasseter is returning to direct the film.
Chief of Walt Disney Co. Bob Iger was on hand to make the announcement today to Wall Street analysts during a discussion regarding the company’s fourth quarter and fiscal year results.
Unfortunately, those are just about the only details we’ve been given at this time, though as with any Toy Story film, we can surmise it will flourish at the box office no matter what — Toy Story 3 raked in $1.1 billion at the box office and that was four years ago. More recently, Disney’s Frozen has been all but keeping Disney in business with its massive popularity and appeal to fans all over the world. With the success of animated films at an all-time high, Toy Story 4 is sure to be a hit.
Now we just have to get past the three-year wait.

That makes me so sad. Disney should know better. The series wrapped up with a beautiful finale for all toys and Andy. Let the show rest and come up with something new!
I hope it’s about Andy’s kids!!
