John Goodman Books Trip to KONG: SKULL ISLAND

The upcoming King Kong prequel movie, Kong: Skull Island has signed on another member of the cast: turns out John Goodman will portray a government official who accompanies the expedition to Skull Island, joining an already impressively stacked cast.

Tom Hiddleston will reportedly play the leader of the expedition, as he searches for both his missing brother and a mythical serum. Brie Larson, Toby Kebbell, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tom Wilkinson round out the big-name cast, but details about their characters have yet to be revealed.

Goodman is best known for his starring role on Roseanne and several memorable feature film appearances including The Big Lebowski, The Babe, Flight, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and Argo. More recently, Goodman starred in Alpha House (pictured above), an original series on Amazon Prime.

Kong: Skull Island is rumored to move the King Kong timeframe from the early 20th century to the 1970s. It was also announced that Kong: Skull Island will feature Monarch, the organization that debuted in the 2014 remake of Godzilla. Kong: Skull Island recently moved studios from Universal Pictures to Warner Bros. in part to facilitate the upcoming cinematic rematch between Godzilla and King Kong.

Before Godzilla vs. King Kong makes its way into theaters, Godzilla 2 is expected to be released in 2018. Kong: Skull Island will head before the cameras this fall and it will smash its way into theaters on March 10, 2017.
