See John Boyega in First PACIFIC RIM 2 Image, and More Movie News

Wolverine, Logan, Weapon X… Whatever one chooses to call him, there’s no denying Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the world’s most popular mutant will be missed when he walks off into the sunset at the end of his final screen appearance. In today’s Movie Morsels we have the very first clip from Logan, as well as first looks at John Boyega in Pacific Rim: Uprising, Alicia Vikander as the new Tomb Raider, and Jackie Chan’s character in The LEGO Ninjago Movie. So sharpen those adamantium claws and prepare to go berserk!

Pacific Rim: Uprising

Whereas the first Pacific Rim was chock full of action, destruction, and mayhem–all that wonderful stuff–the sequel looks like it may have at least a scene or two of quiet contemplation. At least that’s what you’d think if you were to go by the image tweeted out by new star John Boyega.

The The Force Awakens star shared the first look at him in the upcoming film, sitting quietly in what appears to be a futuristic bunker, with the caption, “I am Pentecostal.” Not much to make of the picture, except that it’s a good deal calmer than just about any single frame in Pacific Rim. Still, I wouldn’t bank on this as an indicator of the mood on the whole. I think we can all confidently prepare for John Boyega to do engage in some serious kaiju-fighting.

Logan

Eriq La Salle looks like he might soon have to do some emergency surgery on the poor fools who dare cross Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in Logan! The first clip from the film finds the X-Man teamed up with the former ER star as he runs afoul of some arrogant Okies. Care to wager on who wins this fight?

Tomb Raider

Our first ever look at Alicia Vikander on the set of the Tomb Raider reboot shows the Oscar winner as the spitting image of the Lara Croft we all know and love from the hit video game series… or at least the spitting image of a really above average cosplayer. Check it out:

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

While Jackie Chan may not be the spry force of nature he was back in action classics like Police Story, the martial arts legend can still kick as much ass as he ever did with the help of the medium of animation. Even if his character in The LEGO Ninjago movie is even older than the superstar himself. Here’s a first look at Chan’s Sensei Wu…

Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film

lando-han-glover

You old smoothie… Wondering what the original Lando Calrissian thinks of Donald Glover’s casting as the character’s younger self in the as yet untitled “Young Han Solo” film? Actor Billy Dee Williams has a few words to say about Donald Glover…

“He’s a very delightful young man, I must say. We had a very nice lunch and we talked for a very long time and it was very easy. He had questions about [Lando]. I guess he was doing what normal actors do, they just want to find out what direction they want to take so they gather their information. So, we just sat and talked, and I didn’t want to impose on anything he wanted to do — he’s got his own ideas, I would imagine. I know he has his own ideas. He’s a very talented young man. In fact, I was listening to some of his music [Childish Gambino, Glover’s musical alter-ego] and it’s pretty good stuff… I think he basically just wanted to see me, meet me, get to know me a little bit and probably figure out a way to use me in developing his character.”

“Donald is eclectic,” adds Williams, who says he still sees himself as Lando, “I think that’s really important particularly for the character of Lando. He is particularly eclectic in the way he approaches his art. When I talked to him I really got the sense of him being a worldly person… But I’m not saying goodbye to that character. It’s still very much a part of my life. I created that character.”
