Jim Lee and Frank Miller Want To Finish ALL-STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN

Ten years ago, DC Comics kicked off its All-Star line with Frank Miller and Jim Lee’s All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder. But the series was only published sporadically and it came to an abrupt end with issue #9 in 2008. A planned six-issue finale for story called Dark Knight: Boy Wonder was supposed to drop in 2011, but it never happened.

While many fans assumed that All-Star Batman & Robin would remain unfinished, Lee recently said, “I would love to get back on [All Star Batman & Robin] and close it out. [Frank Miller has] got a great ending to the story and a really cool final scene that was described to me that is just classic.”

Lee also explained why All-Star Batman & Robin disappeared from the schedule. “You know, when I worked on All Star Batman & Robin, I was just coming off of maybe four or five years of just working on Batman, and I just kind of hit a wall with it,” noted Lee. “But now that I’ve taken a break from it — and certainly while working on Batman: Europa — it’ll be kind of cool to jump back on and finish out. At the end of the day, you really want a nice trade and collection edition that tells the whole story, and I would love to finish that. That’ll be fantastic.”

All-Star Batman & Robin is also a very divisive story among DC fans, as it introduced the world to the now infamous line “I’m the Goddamn Batman,” and it featured Batman telling a grieving Dick Grayson to eat a rat if he got hungry in the Batcave…on the night that Dick’s parents died! And there’s so much more, including the foul-mouthed teenage Barbara Gordon Batgirl, an angrier Wonder Woman calling a man “sperm bank,” and that time that Robin nearly beat Green Lantern to death after he and Batman painted themselves yellow and stole GL’s ring.

Comic fans, are you eager to see Lee and Miller revisit All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder? Shine the Bat-signal on your thoughts in the comment section below!
