Jim Beaver Is Returning to SUPERNATURAL

One of the most fantastic things about a show like Supernatural is that even when characters die, they’re not really gone. They can still come back into the story from beyond the grave or sometimes, by taking a trip to the past. That’s how Bobby Singer will return to the series this season. Jim Beaver is set to reprise his role as the lovable, gruff Bobby in the sixteenth episode through a flashback.

Supernatural executive producer Jeremy Carver filled TVLine in. “[Dean and Sam] are going to be investigating an old case that was once investigated by Bobby and Rufus.” The case in question happened during season five. Since Rufus is also dead (look, it’s a common theme on Supernatural), Steven Williams will also get to return. We’ve seen Bobby and Rufus work together before, and it’s always nice to see Bobby interact with hunters who aren’t the Winchesters.

If you’ll remember, season five was the year when Sam and Dean had to battle the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. That season finale is when Lucifer got put in the Cage. Since the boys are currently having problems with Lucifer and the Cage in the season 11 winter finale (oops), the case may be connected to that. Regardless of what connects the Winchsters to the past, it should be interesting to dig back into that timeline.

How excited are you about seeing more Bobby? Do you think we’ll get at least one good “Idjits!” from him? Sound off in the comments.
