Director Zack Snyderâs Justice League movie began filming last month, and it appears that at least some of the movie will be taking place in Gotham City. And if a new report is true, then Ben Affleckâs Bruce Wayne/Batman will once again be joined by his right-hand man, Alfred Pennyworth. Showbiz 411 is reporting that Jeremy Irons has said that he will be back for Justice League, but the story doesnât feature any direct quotes from Irons himself. Nerdist has reached out to Warner Bros. Pictures for confirmation, but we have not yet received it.
Given that the ending of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice implied that Batman was making it his mission to assemble other superheroes, it makes sense that Alfred would appear in some capacity. Another familiar face from Gotham City is already lined up for the film: J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Presumably both Irons and Simmons would also reprise their roles for the next solo Batman movie, which is rumored to be co-written and directed by Affleck.
So far, most of the non-superhero casting for the first Justice League movie hasnât been announced. Outside of Simmons, the biggest addition has been Willem Dafoe, who will be playing a currently unrevealed heroic character. As for the filmâs villains, nothing has officially slipped out yet. However, weâd be shocked if Darkseid and his evil New Gods from Apokolips werenât involved in the story. After all, those were Parademons in Batman v Superman, right?
