Jason Statham, Paul Feig, & Bobby Cannavale Talk SPY at SXSW

It’s a good year for fans of spy thrillers. Between Kingsman, Spectre, Mission Impossible 5, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and Paul Feig’s forthcoming action-comedy Spy, 2015 will be positively lousy with espionage and black ops on the big screen. That being said, so far they have been really, really good. Kingsman: The Secret Service‘s proved to be a near-pefect cinematic experience, and Spy, which just premiered at SXSW proves why Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig are a creative duo with which to be reckoned.

While at SXSW in Austin, Texas, I was able to meet my informants at an undisclosed black site where I sat down with director Paul Feig and stars Jason Statham & Bobby Cannavale to talk all about their new globetrotting caper comedy. From how they would fare in a real-life undercover operation to the challenges of making a spy movie relevant in an already crowded genre, no question went unanswered. Except “who is driving all of these motorcycles, ambulances, and helicopters in the background?” Seriously, they were really distracting. But I digress.

Spy bows on June 5, 2015.

  1. Thanks for this nice interview. Great to know that we’ll get some extras on the DVD.

Am I the only one who thinks Statham looks a little “twitchy” in this interview?
