The JASON BOURNE Cast on Resurrecting an Action Hero

Nearly ten years after Jason Bourne swam away in New York’s East River to what is hopefully a better, assassination-free life, the American superagent has come in from the cold. Director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon reunited to resurrect the beloved character which they had brought to screen together two times before in The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum. Though Matt Damon reprises his role as the familiar bag-toting, fast-walking, ass-kicking ex-amnesiac, the world in which Jason Bourne operates is drastically different–sociopolitically, culturally, and technologically.

While in Las Vegas—where they filmed the truly epic third-act finale of the film—I sat down with Matt Damon and his co-star Alicia Vikander to talk about the challenges of making a more modern Bourne movie, why now was the right time for a new chapter in his saga, as well as what it was like introducing new faces into this epic espionage tale.

Plus, stay tuned to Nerdist for a juicy tidbit from Vikander about her upcoming role as Lara Croft in the forthcoming Tomb Raider reboot.

Jason Bourne is in theaters everywhere on July 29, 2016.

Are you excited for Jason Bourne? Would you like to see a crossover with Jeremy Renner’s Darren Cross? You can read Kyle Anderson’s review here. Then be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
