Japanese GAME OF THRONES Covers are Manga-nificent

Have you ever cracked open one of the many, many volumes of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series and thought, “this is cool, but it would be hella cool if it was done up like a manga?” Well, today is a day made for you, my friends. Because Japanese publishing company Hayakawa has commissioned artist Noriko Meguro to dream up exactly that for their iterations of the Game of Thrones source material. And they’re as badass as you want them to be.

Tackling the behemoth in 12 volumes (I mean, listen: those books are like five thousand bajillion pages long, give or take), the manga-fied versions of the story take the fantasy aspect to new heights—and include more than a few Daenerys boob shots because that’s just how the world works when it comes to her, we guess.

Our favorite is definitely Samwell Tarly giving none of the effs as he tackles some white walker with his dragonglass, though the Arya one is equally as badass. DUECES, Y’ALL.

However the Tyrion iteration — a stunty Varys meets Humpty Dumpty — is the stuff of nightmares. Real terror fodder, ensuring I will most definitely never sleep again. And we’re not entirely convinced that Jaime Lannister cover isn’t actually just Brienne of Tarth (which we would, honestly, maybe prefer over the Kingslayer himself).

Oh and shout out to Jon Snow who doesn’t know anything but still managed to end up on more covers than anyone else. Being oblivious comes in handy sometimes, don’t it?

What do you think of the covers? Let us know in the comments.
