Next month, lightning strikes twice as the new Thor headlines the All-New, All-Different relaunch of The Mighty Thor. In the aftermath of Original Sin, Thor, the God of Thunder, was rendered unworthy of his mythic hammer, Mjolnir. One woman has stepped up to take Thorâs place and claim the hammer as her own: Dr. Jane Foster, the new Goddess of Thunder!
The Mighty Thor # 1 picks up eight months after Secret Wars, and Jane Foster is firmly entrenched in her role as Thor as she protects the Ten Realms from threats within and without. But the new Thorâs enemies have multiplied. Asgard itself is on the brink of chaos. However, Jane Fosterâs true battle lies within as her body is ravaged by cancer…and the power of Thor is slowly killing her as well.
The creative team of Jason Aaron and artists Russell Dauterman and Matt Wilson have reunited on The Mighty Thor # 1, and Marvel has released the first few pages which you can see in the gallery below. You may notice that the new Thor upstages her fellow Avengers when she brings a crashing ship down safely.
Marvel has also revealed the covers for The Mighty Thor # 1, including an impressive wraparound gatefold cover by Dauterman, that features the new and original Thors surrounded by Asgardâs allies and enemies. In addition, Dauterman and Wilson created a variant cover for The Mighty Thor # 1, and the other covers are by Olivier Coipel and Mike Deodato, with a cosplay variant cover as well.
The Mighty Thor # 1 will bring the hammer down in comic book stores everywhere on Wednesday, November 11.
