Jamie Hyneman Builds Racing Spiders in New Web Series

With the latest run of MythBusters coming to a close, we’re going to need to find a way to get our Adam and Jamie fix until it returns later in the year. Luckily, that’s why we have Tested.com (well, it’s not the only reason, since Tested is awesome on its own, but you get the idea). Over the years, the boys have spent a fair amount of their free time turning Tested into the place for all things nuts and bolts when it comes to making, but a new series from the site may be its most exciting piece of work to date.

Back in November, Jamie revealed to the world an experiment he had created in a team-up with Evernote. In a broad stroke, the project was a remote-controlled spider made out of light-weight materials that could move quickly across tricky terrain. However, his reveal could only get into so much detail under the time restrictions of the presentation. So, in order to really give people insight into the creation of the bot, Tested and Evernote have released the first part of a four-part series simply titled Jamie’s Racing Spiders.

Check it out:

There’s a lot of practical, real world potential for a device like this (aside from the sheer awesomeness). From rescue services to construction to military application, the potential for Jamie’s spiders to do some real good is high, so to see how they came to be in this new series is really getting us excited.

New episodes of Jamie’s Racing Spiders will debut every Tuesday for the next three weeks.
