Social media really does bring us closer to our heroes, and while sometimes the experience is less than perfect, sometimes those heroes remind us that they are just people too. Saturday, August 1st, was the one year anniversary of the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy, and both star Chris Pratt and director James Gunn took to their social media accounts to remember the event.
Star-Lord Pratt shared a sweet tweet to add to the pantheon of his sweet tweets. (Seriously. Do you follow him on the internet? Get ready to.)
A year ago today #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy opened introducing the whole world to director @JamesGunn What a visionary. Can’t wait to it again.

The film’s director got a little more in-depth with his thoughts, and I’m not going to lie, I got all kinds of warm fuzzy feelings when I first read the whole piece.
In addition to the sweet words, Gunn shared two of my favorite pieces of fan art for the film: Adi Fitri’s Calvin & Hobbes take on Groot and Rocket, and M.J. Hiblen’s Star Lord and Rocket.

We’re given so many Marvel superhero movies now that some of it feels like the same old press junkets and fan interactions over and over again. It’s refreshing to get such personal thoughts from the men behind Guardians of the Galaxy. Maybe take this moment to revisit the awesome GotG fan art that the internet has for you. It’s a good time to walk down memory lane.
