If you’ve never seen The Room, then your life isn’t complete. It’s really that simple. Written, directed, and starring Tommy Wiseau, The Room is easily one of the worst movies ever made, and also one of the most enjoyable, if you’re watching it with a group of friends. Since it first came out in 2003 in one movie theater in Los Angeles, The Room has since spawned midnight screenings and a million internet memes (“oh, hai!”)
Well, it’s about to spawn yet another movie. Deadline is reporting that James Francoâs Rabbit Bandini Productions has optioned book and life rights to The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, which was published last year, from actor Greg Sestero (who played Mark in the movie, and was a longtime friend of Wiseau’s) and journalist Tom Bissell. Franco will direct and co-produce, along with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldbergâs Point Grey Productions, with a script by Ryan Moody.
Franco, who reviewed the book onVice, compared Tommy Wiseau to Stoker’s Dracula, Ed Wood, a gangster, and Norma Desmond from the classic film Sunset Boulevard. He also praised the book, and said it was a combination of Boogie Nights and The Master, and more than just a collection of hilarious behind-the-scenes stories at Wiseau’s expense.  James Franco has hinted on his Instagram account that both he and his brother Dave would be starring in the movie. Can I just get in line for this now? Oh, and if you haven’t seen The Room… this three minute scene should give you enough reason to Netflix this sucker right now.
Hi Mark should be the name of the film
leave it to Rogan and Franco to ruin something good.
Calm down Kim Jong-un.
If you wanna hear more about the book, listen to Tom Bissell’s last appearance on the Indoor Kids.
CROSS-REFERENCE’D!
Oh, hi Mark.
This could be the weirdest/awesomest Franco news in a while. If anyone hasn’t seen the Room I highly recommend watching it and then watching it with the Rifftrax commentary it adds so much more to the viewing experience.
The scene were the shoot the sex seen is going to be REALLY hard to watch
