Check Out Jada Pinkett Smith’s Big Return to GOTHAM (Exclusive)

You can’t keep a good fish down on Gotham!

Jada Pinkett Smith officially returns to Fox’s DC Comics drama this Monday after her season one death, and Nerdist has your exclusive first look at her big return as one of Gotham‘s most sinister villains yet!

“The fabulous Jada Pinkett Smith is coming back as Fish Mooney and Robin Lord Taylor is extremely excited about this,” Taylor says with a laugh. “I don’t know exactly how Oswald Cobblepot is going to feel about it. I imagine not very good.”

After Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) pushed Fish Mooney off the top of a building into the river in his bid to become the new King of Gotham in the season one finale, his rival hasn’t been seen since. But now that Professor Hugo Strange (B. D. Wong) has discovered the secret to reanimating dead bodies down in Indian Hill (the secret mad science lab beneath Arkham Asylum), the dead won’t stay dead for long. His next project after the failed rebirth of Theo Galavan/Azrael (James Frain)? You guessed it: Fish Mooney. Of course, not everything goes according to plan, as you can see from the exclusive sneak peek at the episode, “Wrath of the Villains: A Legion of Horribles.”

“Hugo Strange is about to be shut down, because the people that are controlling all of his experiments, they’re telling him, ‘If you can’t reanimate someone quick, you’re going to be out,'” Wong says. “He has one last chance to find the key to the reanimation, and it is the body of Fish Mooney.”

But Fish Mooney isn’t the only dead villain coming back to haunt Gotham thanks to Strange’s experiments. Selina Kyle’s (Camren Bicondova) fate is still hanging on by a loose threat after Strange locked her in a room with her former friend Bridgit Pike (Michelle Veintimilla), who has now fully transformed into the supervillain Firefly.

“We’re going into some uncharted territory now,” Sean Pertwee says. “Hugo Strange will be able to reanimate people and there’s a liturgy of characters that are going to be born into the world of Gotham into super-super-villains.”

The one person who might be able to stop Strange is none other than Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), since Indian Hill all began with his father before Strange had him and Bruce’s mother murdered. After he loses contact with Selina, who went into Indian Hill with his plan, Bruce confronts Strange face-to-face to try and take him down once and for all.

“I think that Hugo Strange, Indian Hill, Arkham Asylum, Azrael, this new breed of villain, nobody in Gotham is going to know how to react,” Mazouz says. “They can’t handle somebody with supernatural powers, and Bruce is going to step up to the plate. You’re really going to see him take it upon himself to end this.”
