Do you know what’s scarier than the monsters of A Quiet Place? Stepping into a role made famous by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine. Tom Clancy‘s Jack Ryan has headlined numerous novels and movies, but now, John Krasinski is taking over the part in Amazon Prime’s upcoming Jack Ryan original series. Former Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse co-created this new take on Jack Ryan, which picks up early in his espionage career. Krasinski’s Ryan may be better suited for an office job, but he’s not going to be able to hide behind a desk for very long. The new trailer shows us why Ryan is going to be called upon to stop a terrorist plot with international implications.
In the new footage, we see Ryan’s tracking questionable financial transactions skill has put him on the forefront of the hunt for a terrorist. However, fieldwork is out of Ryan’s wheelhouse, even though he’s literally plucked from his fiancee’s party by helicopter to take part in the mission. Before Ryan can even process what’s happened, he’s already traveling to Europe and the Middle East while encountering dangerous situations along the way.
Abbie Cornish, Wendell Pierce, Ali Suliman, Dina Shihabi, and Amir El-Masry round out the cast of Jack Ryan. The first season will premiere on Friday, August 31, only on Amazon Prime.
