J.K. Rowling Has Started a New Children’s Book

Before anyone gets too excited about the fact that J.K. Rowling gave an interview in which she admitted to having more children’s books in her head, I want to point out right here at the beginning that we know very little about this book. Now that my disclaimer is out of the way, please don’t mind me while I freak out for a second.

The interview in question aired on BBC Radio 2‘s Book Club, and everyone’s favorite writer of wizards actually gave the interview under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith. You can listen to the whole thing on their website for roughly the next month. Grab some snacks and butterbeer though, because it is almost two hours long.

“I will definitely write more novels as J. K. Rowling. Novels in the plural, I have so many ideas in my head,” Rowling admitted in the interview. She continued to shoot all of our hopes into the stratosphere by saying, “I have an idea for a children’s book. Actually I have written part of a children’s book that I really love so I’m definitely going to finish that.”

While I am not of the generation that grew up reading about Harry Potter and his adventures (Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone was published when I was 15 and was already reading far more than was healthy), I know that many of our readers here and around the internet are part of that lucky generation who have grown up with Harry, Ron and Hermione. Can you imagine what it is going to be like for the next generation of kids who get to grow up not just with J.K. Rowling books in their lives but with parents and friends who know exactly the level of excitement they have for her characters and stories? I’m a little jealous of them to be honest.

So, like I said at the beginning, we know very little about this possible new book but we know it exists. Somewhere in the UK, Rowling is building new worlds and getting to know new characters who could charm us for another twenty years. I hope you’re as excited as I am.
