It’s probably been a frustrating week for J.J. Abrams. If he’s trying to keep all the secrets of Star Wars: Episode VII under wraps, his plan is suffering major blows. TMZ has shared photos from the set in Abu Dhabi as well as a look inside the shop building vehicles and creatures for the film. The images from yesterday revealed construction of a ship that looks an awful lot like the Millennium Falcon. Today, Abrams has proved he’s ready to roll with the leaked photo punches. Bad Robot posted this note on Twitter:
He expresses that he wishes people would stop posting behind the scenes photos and also states we should stop “making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie.” The best part about this letter is what it’s sitting on top of. Yes, friends, it’s a dejarik table. The holographic game was featured in A New Hope. We first saw it in the Millennium Falcon when Chewbacca and R2-D2 faced off against each other. That’s when we learned the oh so important advice that you should always let the wookiee win.
Abrams’ note pretty much confirms that we’ll see the Millennium Falcon in Episode VII. Though he and Lucasfilm could be working with sites like the TMZ to strategically leak information and set all of this up, I don’t think so. It’s not like they need to worry about getting fans hyped for the film; we’re already excited. Notes like this keep us happy. I predict that after Episode VII has been released, there will be a coffee table book called “Notes from J.J. Abrams.” I will buy at least five copies.
Who else is ready for a round of dejarik? Jump to the comments and tell us about your reaction to this note.
I would do anything for that note.
I wish people would stop leaking things from this movie. It is taking the fun away from waiting for the movie release. I want to be pleasantly surprised by what I see on the screen, not “oh yeah, I saw that already.”
If I was Abrams, I’d set up a sweet leak network where all kinds of crazy untrue sh!t got leaked about the movie…most of it contradictory…keep the public on their toes.
MUCH AGREED. I’m so glad I grew up in a world where every detail of plot, design, and sound wasn’t general public knowledge before a movie was released. Makes me sad for today’s kids. Oh, yeah, and get off my lawn.
I think the dejarik table is sentient and is the one that left the note pretending to be JJ. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
if I was gay, Id have a crush on JJ Abrams
I can’t wait for VII but sure as hell hope that Internet is not going to ruin my experience as it did for the Prequels. In short, Prequels rule, Star Wars fanboys who didn’t appreciate them Suck. The End.
AGREED! ! LOVED the prequels! Bye to the nay sayers! III was better than VI
I always look forward to the comment thread pedantry on posts like this. :3 Never disappointed!
U spelt wookie rong
U spelled wookie “wrong” 😛
You spelt wookie rong
you spelled “wrong” wrong
Actually it’s spelled wookiee jackass.
Guy’s a fucking casual.
Wasn’t it C3PO that faced off against Chewbacca?
No, it was R2. 3PO was right there though and was the one who advised him to take Han’s advice and ‘let the Wookie win’.
no
No. R2D2 was playing Chewbacca. C-3PO was providing strategy.
I thought he was providing color commentary.
dont you remember the “I suggest you let the wookie win” line?
It was R2D2 playing against Chewbacca, C3P0 had the quote: “I suggest a new strategy, Artoo: Let the Wookiee win.”
J.J. Abrams is the damn coolest.
