J.J. Abrams Has Officially Finished STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Alright, stop us if you’ve heard this one. Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and Stephen Colbert walk into the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and admit that the film that’s a just about three weeks away from release was finally finished at around 2am on November 21, 2015.

Seems like an unlikely story, right? Abrams revealed completion of SW:TFA (is that an acceptable acronym?) while appearing at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center for the Celebrity Nerd-Off, an Omaze charity event with Stephen Colbert to benefit the Montclair film festival. It’s no secret that films can undergo extensive edits before their release but it is a bit surprising that a film on the scale of The Force Awakens was finished so close to the premiere. We look at this news as a good thing because it shows that Abrams isn’t content with just cashing a big ol’ Disney check and phoning things in. Imagine the nerdy late nights spent meticulously going over things at the level of detail Abrams is known for in his work. We can rest easy knowing that if Abrams is willing to say it’s done, the next film in the Star Wars franchise is 100% complete to the director’s standards.

For anyone bummed that they couldn’t go to, or didn’t know about the Star Wars/Abrams/Colbert event, know that you can still check out Omaze’s “Force for Change” campaign that benefits 15 causes including Make-A-Wish, Feeding America, and fStop Warrior Project among others (view the complete list at StarWars.com).
