J.J. Abrams-Produced GOD PARTICLE Rumored to Be Closing in on Cast

J.J. Abrams has been on a wee bit of a hot streak lately, with the filmmaker seemingly infallible after directing Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 10 Cloverfield Lane (which he produced), proving popular with both critics and moviegoers alike. So it’s easy to see why Paramount Pictures is moving forward with his next production, God Particle, and that two seriously awesome people are in talks to star.

Variety is reporting that David Oyelowo and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are both in talks to join the movie that is set “in the near future,” which they describe as “a team of astronauts who make a terrifying discovery that challenges all they know about the fabric of reality, as they desperately fight for their survival.”

David Oyelowo is best known for portraying Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma (and for many of our readers as the voice of Agent Kallus in Star Wars Rebels), and Gugu Mbatha-Raw recently played Will Smith’s wife in Concussion and will be seen in Free State of Jones this June. (She also had a part in Jupiter Ascending.) Julius Ohna is set to direct the movie, with a target release date of February, 2017.

We have reached out to Paramount Pictures for confirmation but had not heard back from them at the time of publication. We will update the story with any further news.

What do you make of these reports? Who else would you like to see join the cast? Tell us in the comments below.
