J.J. Abrams Confirms STAR WARS VII Script Is Done

It’s not much, but it happened! At yet another press event connected to the Television Critics Association, TV mogul and ruler of the geek universe, J.J. Abrams confirmed that the script to Star Wars: Episode VII is finished. It was a scant mention, but Abrams said of the highly anticipated project, “We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep. Full steam ahead.” The script was co-written by Abrams and Empire, Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark co-scribe Lawrence Kasdan and will be, of course, directed by Abrams, a lifelong fan of the space opera franchise.

Abrams also confirmed that they did, indeed, speak to actor Jesse Plemons about a possible role. His exact words were: “He is one of the actors that we’ve talked to.” They talked to a guy; Surely, he must be the next Skywalker. Or it could mean they just talked to him. Abrams is notoriously tight-lipped, so he likely won’t tell us anything more about the casting, or the film itself, until it’s, you know, actually worth talking about. He did say, finally, that the movie will be shot on film but will not be shot in IMAX, which gives fans hoping for a return to the more realistic look of the original trilogy something to squeal about. As you know, Star Wars: Episode VII is due to hit cinemas in December of 2015.
