It’s Official: Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts to Star in Ryan Murphy’s SCREAM QUEENS

Just a few short weeks after the horror/comedy anthology series Scream Queens was announced, actresses Emma Roberts and horror icon Jamie Lee Curtis have been confirmed to lead the first season of the series which is expected to premiere next fall on Fox.

Scream Queens, the new show from Glee’s Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, is said to revolve “around a college campus that is rocked by a series of murders” and is expected to have a fifteen episode run in its freshman season, according to Deadline. Emma Roberts has been a frequent Ryan Murphy collaborator since she joined American Horror Story during Coven and Jamie Lee Curtis is a bad ass in every way. Murphy is obviously a fan of the genre. In addition to creating American Horror Story, he also produced The Town That Dreaded Sundown remake with Blumhouse Productions and MGM that was released earlier this year.

For a while Curtis was attached to an ABC Family drama called The Final Girls last year with her Halloween H2O director Steve Miner signed on to direct, however, this is not the same project; a fact that I was slightly confused by when this casting news broke earlier today. Still, it seems like Scream Queens will be a great fit for Curtis making use of her dramatic chops as well as her comedy skills shown off in A Fish Called Wanda and True Lies, just to name a couple.

What say you, horror folk? Are you excited to see Ryan Murphy and company tackle a horror/comedy each week? How about the casting choices? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Lets be honest, as much as I don’t want this show to suck, the anthology of AHS is deteriorating and so did Glee. It will start with a bang and end with a flicker is my guess, here’s hoping the IU alum can prove me wrong!

  2. Natasha says:

Does that mean Emma Roberts won’t be returning for American Horror Story?

  3. kerrell says:

Sounds like the show could be a lot of fun. I’ll definitely check it out when it debuts next year.
