After quite a long while of speculation, rumor, and hearsay, BBC America has confirmed that Doctor Who will premiere the first of the initial five episodes of Series 7 on Saturday, September 1st at 9pm/8c!! This has more or less been the probable date, but, with it only being two weeks away, it’s nice to have an official word. Above is the new trailer specific to the date with new scenes and clips, including some stuff from episode 5 which has been the most elusive thus far.

You guessed it, folks – I’m excited. For all five of September’s Saturdays, we’ll have new Doctor Who. It’s a good feeling. Be sure to check back here after each ep for my review!

iirc, Netflix and Prime have (new)series 1-6 streaming. Jump on with series 5 and rush to catch up before the 1st!
Series 33? for jump’n on, too soon to say as we’ve no idea yet how past episodes might integrate in the story/episodes to come. However, I would say now is a good time in that I would usually recommend someone entirely new to the show at least start in at the beginning of any of the main character’s (the Doctor’s) “regeneration” points. That’s when the series’ main actor and sometimes production crew change hands, which generally means you can pick up and follow along the new adventures WITH the newly re-booted main character, who is re-discovering himself during those initial new run episodes.
The good news is, if you’re in the U.S. and get the BBC-A channel, then it appears starting next Friday morning (the Aug. 31st) at 5AM (according to my listings) they will be airing a marathon of episodes starting from the beginning of the current lead actor’s (Matt Smith) run in the roll as the 11th Doctor. His starting episode was title ‘The Eleventh Hour’. Find that one in your DVR listings, record and then watch every episode through to the Saturday evening (Sept. 1st) at ??? 6PM and/or 9PM (repeat airing) of the newest episode to be released. I’ve been trying to avoid spoilers, even story titles, but I think a DW podcast already noted it will be title ‘Asylum of the Daleks’. That way you will have introduced yourself to the series via the current incarnation of the Doctor.
It’s likely this will become your favorite version of the Doctor by nature of introduction to the show, but you’ll later as you watch way back episodes you’ll find a treasure of content connections to the new airings as the come.
