Is the JIGSAW Trailer Really Bringing SAW’s Sadistic Vigilante Back to Life?

The Saw franchise is no stranger to convoluted nonsense and logic-defying retcons, but the resurrection of the series set for October 27th may try to pull off its greatest, silliest magic trick yet. Jigsaw sends the police scrambling because a killer claiming to be the famous John Kramer has surfaced. And before you assume it’s just a simple copycat, we hear John’s voice on all of the new tapes and spot his DNA is in some…unusual places.

The new trailer really wants us to wonder if they were crazy enough to bring him back to life.

Jigsaw technically died five movies ago. After a grieving father runs through a series of the philosophically twisted killer’s tests designed to see whether he could forget his rage enough to forgive those responsible for his son’s death, he takes a circular saw to Jigsaw’s throat. Turns out it was a bad idea since it also triggered his wife’s death and a new game to save his daughter, but Jigsaw was gone.

That was confirmed even further when Saw IV begins with his autopsy, which is the kind of thing that’s really tough to come back from.
