Is the Complete STAR WARS Saga Coming to Netflix Soon? [UPDATED]

Updated 9/17/15: Netflix has commented that there are no current plans to stream the Star Wars saga on their website.

Did a glitch in the system over at Netflix reveal–rumored for some time–that the entire Star Wars Saga, Episodes I-VI, will be coming to their streaming service sometime soon? The glitch in question is the appearance of a screenshot, which you can see below, that features the title page for Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

Although the page is lacking any images or a way to watch the movie, the landing page still exists as of this writing. Since then, similar pages have been found for Episodes I-III, as well as Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. The fact that Episode IV: A New Hope is the only one missing is actually a tell tale sign that this is more than a simple mistake, since the original Star Wars film is still controlled by Twentieth Century Fox, and Disney had to strike a special deal with them to include it in any Star Wars Saga package, as they did for the recent digital release. Netflix and Disney may not have ironed everything out with Fox yet.

The arrival of the saga to Netflix makes total sense for Disney, who would want the original films out there for as many people to see, especially younger children who were never exposed to the series before, in time for the release of The Force Awakens in December, especially since that movie will feature so many characters and references to the classic trilogy in particular.

The Complete Saga Blu-ray is being re-released for this very reason soon as well, and before that, the saga got its first ever digital release. Being  available for a proper streaming service is really all that’s left, and considering Netflix already has struck a similar deal with Disney-owned Marvel Studios, getting Lucasfilm to come on board shouldn’t be too hard. Netflix already carries the complete Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series after all. It feels like just a matter of time before we get an official announcement, and then you’ll be able to watch Star Wars in every home viewing format known to mankind. That’s not too much to ask for, is it?

What do you think of Star Wars potentially coming to Netflix? Sound off in the comments below!
