Long before anyone could even imagine Disney would actually acquire all of Fox’s entertainment properties, fans were dreaming of a world where all of Marvel‘s comic book characters were back under the same studio, so the X-Men and the Fantastic Four could join the MCU. Now that the unthinkable is official and our favorite mutants are joining the House of Mouse, the question is not “if” but “when” that will happen. And of all of the new superheroes Marvel will get to add to their team of Earth’s mightiest heroes, none is more intriguing than the super vulgar Deadpool.
His crass demeanor and penchant for vile humor and gratuitous violence don’t exactly seem to mix well with Disney’s wholesome family vibe. However, the Merc with A Mouth does take in some pretty big box office dollars, so is it possible Wade Wilson will be one way to help recoup the hefty price tag Disney paid? Could he really join the Avengers, and maybe a lot sooner than we might expect? Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld says the possibility is already on the table.
In this Nerdist News Edition, Jessica Chobot talks to our own Markeia McCarty, who had a chance to interview Liefeld about the cinematic future of Deadpool. For someone who claims not to have a lot of inside information, Liefeld sounds optimistic that it really might happen. As weird as Deadpool in the MCU might sound, you don’t pay a fortune to acquire assets and not capitalize on the most profitable one.
But he’ll definitely have to watch his language around Steve Rogers.
What do you think? Could Deadpool work with the Avengers, or is that idea a ****ing joke? Share your thoughts with us in the comments on this possible superhero team-up.
