Classic Comic Book IRON MAN Gets a Deluxe Figure

Ten years ago, Marvel Studios gave Iron Man his first feature film and transformed him into an A-list superhero. Consequently, most of the Iron Man collectibles created since then have resembled Robert Downey Jr.‘s incarnation of Tony Stark rather than his comic book counterpart. But later this year, Mezco Toyz is giving old school Iron Man a deluxe figure in its One:12 Collective line.

The design chosen for this 12 inch Iron Man figure appears to draw its inspiration from the armor that Stark wore in the late ’70s and early ’80s. It was a natural progression of Iron Man’s design and remained largely unchanged for almost a decade’s worth of comics. Even when Stark briefly stepped aside from the role, this is the armor that (future War Machine) James Rhodes wore as the second Iron Man.

During that time period, Stark’s cover was that Iron Man was his bodyguard, but that aspect of the character was abandoned years ago. Mezco’s design has a lot of charm and comes with a few intriguing attachments, including the rarely used Unibeam blast from his arc reactor.

This Iron Man has 30 points of articulation, which can be used to recreate some iconic comic book poses. Additionally, there are six interchangeable hands, a light-up arc reactor, and a stand for the figure. You can find more pics of the One:12 Collective Iron Man figure in our gallery below, and it is currently available for pre-order at Mezco’s official site.
