IRON FIST Featurette Answers More Questions About Danny Rand

Who is Danny Rand? In just under a month, Marvel fans are going to get the answer to that question when Iron Fist makes his debut on Netflix. The Iron Fist comic book was originally released during Marvel’s ’70s kung-fu craze, and the backstory of the title character isn’t always easy to explain. However, the latest promo for Iron Fist not only condenses Danny’s origin, it also drops a few additional hints about the series’ connection with Daredevil.

Former Game of Thrones star Finn Jones is playing Danny Rand in the series, and as explained in this new video, Iron Fist is a title that was bestowed upon him, rather than a cool superhero name that he picked for himself. Danny has literally been marked with the Iron Fist, as seen in the brand on his chest. And the power of the Iron Fist is also on full display here.

The clip also reveals that Danny is somewhat naive after spending 15 years training in the mystical city of K’un-Lun, and he is legitimately surprised when his childhood friends don’t welcome him back with open arms. We even see the plane crash that stranded Danny and led to the death of his mother. But more importantly, the trailer drops hints about Iron Fist’s enemies, including Madame Gao from Daredevil. Sharp-eyed comic fans have already recognized that Madame Gao uses the mark of the Crane Mother, one of Iron Fist’s comic book adversaries. Now, we may finally discover Gao’s true identity and her agenda as the series leads us into The Defenders.

All 13 episodes of Iron Fist will premiere on Friday, March 17, only on Netflix.
