INSIDE OUT Gets Ready for RILEY’S FIRST DATE

Officially, Disney and Pixar currently have no plans to make a sequel to Inside Out, the blockbuster animated movie that made $336 million at the domestic box office this summer. But it’s probably going to happen. It’s just a matter of when.

However, Inside Out fans won’t have to wait long to see what’s next for Riley Andersen (Kaitlyn Dias), and the anthropomorphized emotions within her mind. Pixar has finished Riley’s First Date, a new animated short that will be included on the Inside Out Blu-ray and the film’s digital release. Joy (Smart Girl Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling) are all back for the short, alongside Kyle MacLachlan and Diane Lane as Riley’s parents.

Riley’s suitor actually appeared in the film. He was the kid whose counterparts for Fear, Sadness, Joy, Anger, and Disgust went into a collective panic when Riley spoke to him at the end of the movie. However, Riley’s parents are clearly not thrilled at the idea of their 12-year-old daughter going out on a date.

Riley’s First Date was directed by Josh Cooley, who served as the head of story on Inside Out. Lava, the theatrical animated short released with Inside Out will also be included on the Blu-ray edition; which will be released on Tuesday, October 13.

Inside Out fans, are you excited to see another short story set in that world? Don’t freak out now! Summon your inner emotions and respond within the comment section below!
