Inked Wednesday #73 – STAR WARS Meets HAUNTED MANSION, and More

Where did people share fan art before the Internet? Social media platforms make it easier than ever for artists to post their work featuring original characters and characters from other franchises. Fan art lives in its own category now, and some pieces and series become so popular that fans of the fan art turn their favorites into tattoos. The ink featured just below is a perfect example. The art the tattoo is based on was done by Karen Hallion. She created a series combining Star Wars with the iconic stretching portraits in Disney’s Haunted Mansion. This one is titled “Leia’s Corruptible Mortal State.”

Mae did an impressive job of capturing the colors.

To see more of Hallion’s Star Wars Haunted Mansion series, you can visit Instagram. The other portraits feature Leia, Han Solo, Boba Fett, Lando Calrissian, and even Admiral Ackbar. They’re delightful. You can also buy the Leia art pictured above on shirts and phone cases and stuff.

Hop down to the gallery below to see tattoos inspired by the Legend of Zelda, Spider-Man, Lord of the Rings, and more.

Have geeky tattoos you’d like to share? Or maybe you’re a tattoo artist yourself? Either way, I want to see all the pictures! You can leave them via a link in the comments, you can tag or mention me on Instagram, or you can send photos to me on Twitter.
