Inked Wednesday #71 – BB-8, THE WALKING DEAD, and More

Of all the submissions I receive for Inked Wednesday, Star Wars tattoos are the most popular. They’re closely followed by Doctor Who and Harry Potter, but if I had a tracking spreadsheet, Star Wars would win by a landslide, including The Force Awakens. I saw ink from Episode VII long before the movie hit theaters. Fans and tattoo artists were inspired by the imagery and characters seen in teasers. But now? With the film out in the world, more and more tattoos are popping up. BB-8 is popular–duh!–but I’ve also seen plenty of Kylo Rens, a few Captain Phasmas, and even Luke Skywalker. I hope people start getting quotes from the film inked soon. “Move, ball” is a great choice. Yeah, maybe don’t come to me for tattoo advice.

If you want to look at geeky tattoos for inspiration though, I have you covered. Look at the shading on this lovely BB-8 tattoo:

Pop down to the gallery below to see more examples of nerdy ink. There’s some gorgeous Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel art, a Dole Whip, images from The Walking Dead, and more.

Have nerdy ink? Share it with the class! I want to put it in the queue to feature in a future edition of Inked Wednesday. You can also share your work if you’re a tattoo artist. You can get pictures to me by leaving a link in the comments, tagging me on Instagram, or sending me a photo on Twitter. Please let me know your tattoo artist’s information because credit is neat. And the higher-res the picture, the better.
