INJUSTICE 2: Trailer Breakdown!

With E3 just around the riverbend, game trailers are dropping like digital hotcakes, and the most recent announcement to hit the net comes from the good people at NetherRealm Studios with Injustice 2, the sequel to Gods Among Us. Our first look at the sequel is chok-full-of crazy stuff to dissect, so we’re breaking it down!

The trailer opens up on Sad Superman in a warehouse battling the Flash. After a particularly brutal game of ‘toss-the-Barry,’ the fastest man alive gets up and reveals our first peek at how this game differs from its predecessor. And what exactly do we see? Drumroll please… UPGRADEABLE ARMOR. Each character has a ton of customizable gear, so that each player can constantly upgrade and customize their hero and villain, making them into the super-character of their dreams! A couple examples we caught in the trailer include Flash having a very Tron moment, complete with glowing orange trim, Batman’s suit lighting up green, which might indicate either Kryptonite or some of the Green Lantern‘s powers? And since you’re able to upgrade speed, health, and strength, maybe that does mean you can pull from other heroes iconic powers!

And oh yeah, did we mention a new character reveal? That’s right, Supergirl y’all! Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El is making an appearance as a badass addition to the Injustice games! Also, even though they don’t appear in the trailer, the studio has confirmed that Flash villain Gorilla Grodd and leader of the Red Lantern Corps, Atrocitus, will be joining the fight as well! But, one question remains: How will Injustice 2 follow up on the story from the first game? DC has continued the canon through comics, now in their third season, but will the game pick up exactly where the comics are currently? Or will it just continue Gods Among Us‘ story for the more casual fans? The footage only really tells us that everyone’s battling, so we’ll just be waiting patiently until E3 to find out more.

But what do you guys think? What super-superhero are you dying to customize? Are you excited to see what Supergirl can do in the Injustice universe? Are you a fan of super-tyrant Superman? Let’s discuss!
