In This Universe, RICK AND MORTY Get Mashed-Up with Kendrick Lamar

Two of our favorite things are undoubtedly Kendrick Lamar and Rick and Morty. The rapper/genius has always impressed us with his social commentary, rhymes, and infectious musicality—and there’s something just so weirdly right about mashing up his music with the insane-yet-brilliant world of Rick Sanchez and his grandson Mortimer Smith.

Created by YouTube’s isthishowyougoviral, video is fairly simple in premise: combine a bunch of clips of everyone’s favorite Rick and Morty characters with a badass song that is, funnily enough, incredibly apt given the premise of the show itself. “Now I done grew up / Round some people living their life in bottles / Granddaddy had the golden flask / Back stroke every day in Chicago.” I mean it’s borderline on-the-nose, right?

Perhaps our favorite part of the clip is when Mr. Poopybutthole takes over the rapping reins. But he’s not the only cameo appearance. Outside of Morty, Rick, and Summer, we’re also privy to some Birdperson, Slow Mobius, Tammy, Jerry, Beth, Squanchy, and more. So sit back, relax, and stop nursing those 2 or 3 shots. Kick it up a notch as we head into the weekend. It’s what Tiny Rick AND Kendrick Lamar would want you to do. You’ve earned it.

What other songs would you like to see mashed-up with the world of Rick and Morty? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
