If You Buy Ryan Adams’ New Album, You Will Turn Into A Zombie, Promises Jeff Garlin

Today is a particularly exciting day for fans of Ryan Adams: the singer is finally—finally!—releasing another studio album! Forget Rex Manning Day, today is Ryan Adams Day! (Say no more, mon amor.) And we’ve got some super kooked-out videos to further all of that excitement.

His first release since 2011’s Ashes & Fire, his new tunes come packaged as a self-titled affair, and to celebrate, Adams has put out a series of silly videos, stylized as weirdly and wackily as one would expect.

Featuring an eclectic mix of comedic and musical talent — including Hüsker Dü’s Bob Mould, record producer Don Was, comedian Gary Shandling, and that other comedian-type Jeff Garlin — the videos showcase the true dangers of being a Ryan Adams fan. (No, not sometimes having to decipher his general silliness …though that’s a thing, too.) Like, say, the inevitable zombiefication of anyone who hears it. Or, y’know, the death of any and all nearby birds. Man, for a singer-songwriter, guy with a guitar-type, he sure is deadly, ain’t he?

Doing his best impression of Animal from The Muppets (or is that more Cookie Monster? Both are old standby banter bits from his live shows), Adams reveals the true ambition of his work this whole time: to cause the harm Jeff Garlin warns about. Hey, not everything you like is good for you, so we’re okay with that.

So — who else is running out to Amoeba right MEOW to pick up Ryan Adams? Let us know in the comments/we’ll see you there.
