If Movies Ended When a Character Said the Title

Be warned: This video contains NSFW music

We all know the most exciting moment of any movie is when someone in it says the name of the film, so what’s the point of continuing on after that? You can just roll the end credits right then and still have a perfectly pleasant cinematic experience. Don’t believe me? Well fortunately someone already put in the work to prove it.

This short video by YouTube user Chris Huebs imagines what would happen if the end credits started to roll as soon as the film’s title was said by a character. He included Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Face/Off, 300, and Black Hawk Down. The real kicker though are the incredibly wrong (but very funny) songs he chose for the end credits.

(Note: I always think of Face/Off as coming from the pre-lunatic Nic Cage era, but, uh, I was really wrong about that. I think he has just always been…this way.)

I know this is super nerdy and really embarrassing, but I get way too excited when a character in a movie says the title of the film. (Yes, just like Peter Griffin, I’m aware.) For some reason, I just think it’s the funniest thing, and I wish it were mandatory for all movies to do that, even for sequels.

“Welcome to Jurassic Park3.”

So you can imagine how much I love this video too.

Are the people behind James Bond just terrified that audiences will forget which one they are watching? “We’ve made so many we better remind them!”

If nothing else, the next time you watch movie where a character says the title I bet you imagine it ending right then and there. Just try to use a non-Limp Bizkit song when you roll the imaginary credits.
