ICYMI: Paramount Set Two More TERMINATOR Films for 2017 and 2018

A month ago, we learned that the upcoming reboot/sequel to the Termiantor franchise was officially titled Terminator Genisys. Beyond that, we also know that the summer 2015 slated film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as everyone’s favorite cyborg, that it’s been positioned as the start of a whole new take on the series, and that it will also include a connected television series. Last week, news broke that two more entries in the Terminator saga have had dates set for 2017 and 2018 respectively.

To be exact, the first of the two sequels will drop May 19, 2017, and the other will release on June 29, 2018. Based on the release dates, it would appear the two films will shoot back-to-back, though nothing’s confirmed at this time. It’s also unknown if current reboot director Alan Taylor will remain as head-honcho for the other two films, or if Schwarzenegger will continue to return as the T-800.

With Disney and Warner Bros. snatching up release dates left and right for various superhero and science fiction projects, it’s no surprise that Paramount’s locking down dates this far in advance for one of the biggest properties in its canon. With any luck, Genisys will be a glorious reboot to the beloved Terminator franchise, and will have us salivating for more by the time credits roll next summer. Fingers crossed, guys.

I am going to go into this movie is some reserved optimism and give it a fair shot. No point in automatically dismissing anything that could potentially be, if anything, a fun movie.
