Things have gone from bad to worse on Gotham, as two of Batman’s future adversaries are creating havoc: Hugo Strange (B.D. Wong) and Victor Fries (Nathan Darrow) a.k.a. Mr. Freeze. At the rate that Gotham is creating supervillains, there’s not gonna be a city left for the Dark Knight to protect!
Strange’s handiwork has been glimpsed earlier this season at Indian Hill, where the bodies of Theo Galavan, Fish Mooney, and others are being experimented upon. Strange is trying to find a way to bring back the dead, while Fries is doing everything in his power to save the life of his wife, Nora (Kristen Hager).
Last week, the Gotham P.D. showed some uncharacteristically competent investigative skills when they figured out that Fries was behind the city’s latest murder spree before finding his lab and arresting Nora. In a new preview clip from Monday’s episode of Gotham, Strange realizes that the GCPD has given him a golden opportunity to trap Fries and perhaps literally pick his brain. Nora is being transferred to Arkham, and she’s about to become bait for her husband.
Strange wants an alliance with Fries, probably because it may finally give him the key to reanimate his victims. It’s a safe bet that Strange is near a breakthrough, because we know of at least one formerly dead villain who will be making life difficult for the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) in the near future.
