When Marvel revealed that the third Thor solo film would be called Thor: Ragnarok, the title carried certain expectations like the fall of the Norse Gods and the possible destruction of Asgard. But it turns out that the Ragnarok of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not be what we thought it was. Instead, Thor 3 may heading down a very familiar storyline from one of the most beloved Hulk comics. Today’s Nerdist News is calling down the lightning as we examine the latest rumors!

If you’re still with us, Schmoes Know had the scoop that Ragnarok isn’t a cataclysmic event in this film, it’s the name of the planet that Thor and Hulk find themselves stranded on. Remember those Planet Hulk hints at San Diego Comic-Con? It looks like Thor: Ragnarok is borrowing several plot elements from that classic storyline, as Thor and Hulk have to fight their way out of the space gladiator pits hosted by Jeff Goldblum‘s Grandmaster. That’s also where we’ll meet the new heroine, Valkyrie, and Skurge the Executioner, who may be more sympathetic in this incarnation.
