How to Make Gyoza in Three Seconds Flat

In most American ramen shops, gyoza are relegated to a side dish. Along with edamame and fried rice, the savory dumplings are usually left to the side as a secondary thought. That should definitely not be the case, as gyoza should be held high on a pedestal in all their tiny pocketed glory.

Gyoza, also known as pot stickers, are little packages of goodness filled with ground meat and vegetables wrapped in a thin wrapper. Pan fried, boiled, or deep fried, when made lovingly (and properly), gyoza can sometimes take hours to make in bulk. Who has time for that in this hustle-and-bustle world? Let’s get extreme! Gyoza in 3 seconds? You bet.

In this latest episode of “Three Second Cooking” you can witness gyoza go down in a blaze of glory and into hungry mouths in just three seconds flat. With Japanese commercials being as amazing and confusing as they are, it’s no wonder this ode to gyoza is actually an ad for the Japanese cellphone company DoCoMo promoting high-speed data service.

While you may choose to make gyoza the old fashioned way, you can’t deny how captivating this video is–especially with such an extreme soundtrack and the added screams of terror.

Let’s never forget that this is the same series that also brought us “Three Second Shrimp.” I mean, when you want delicious fried shrimp, there’s no time to waste. If you need me, I’ll be on eBay searching for “shrimp cannon.”
