HOW IT SHOULD HAVE ENDED Animates the BATMAN V. SUPERMAN SDCC Teaser

Watching How it Should Have Ended‘s take on the Batman v. Superman teaser footage from San Diego Comic-Con is almost as good as being there in Hall H for the real thing.

Kinda. I mean, they couldn’t use the pounding score from the original and Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill aren’t cartoons. Also: it wasn’t funny. But put all of that aside and it’s like you were there.

Also: please stay for the post-credits stinger which is kind of the icing on the whole cake.

The clip works for a number of reasons, first and foremost because it’s allowed to have fun with the concept of Superman and Batman meeting up, something I’m hoping will make its way into the Dark Knight Returns-inspired Man of Steel sequel. There’s something so appealing about the idea of those two characters somehow ending up friends – not reluctant rivals working on the same side, but two dudes who know one another’s names and actually depend on each other when things start to get real.

Anyway, bang-up work on this one How it Should Have Ended.

The film is currently in production with stars Affleck and Cavill, who will be joined by Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor). Now we’re all just hoping for word on how The Flash and Green Arrow will somehow make their way into the Zack Snyder lead-up to the Justice League movie.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters on March 25, 2016.
