HORROR HAPPENINGS: Freddy vs. Jason coming to HHN25, the Soskas’ Next and More!

Happy Sunday, horror friends! Today’s Horror Happenings include a few fun flicks that are in development and a genre battle royale that will take place live and in person during Halloween Horror Nights 25. Let’s get to it!

Freddy vs. Jason Coming to Halloween Horror Nights 25!

I have a somewhat silly affinity for Freddy vs. Jason. It’s ridiculous and over the top in every way, and yet it holds a very special place in my horror-loving heart. Now, those of us who live near a Halloween Horror Nights park will get to experience the fun in real life with a Freddy vs. Jason maze! According to Dread Central, the maze is going to be split into three parts focusing on Camp Crystal Lake and Elm Street, of course. Then, for the final section, Freddy and Jason will battle with the winner changing throughout the night appeasing fans of both franchises.

Halloween Horror Nights celebrates its 25th anniversary this fall and will undoubtedly pull out all the stops. More mazes will be announced in the coming months so stay tuned to Horror Happenings for all the bloody details!

Zombie Prom, the Off-Broadway Musical, is Coming to the Big Screen

Over the last ten or so years it seems like we’ve seen zombies do it all: they run (28 Days Later), they walk (The Walking Dead), they’re funny (Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead) and they solve crimes (iZombie), just to name a few. What’s left to be explored among the undead? Singing and dancing, of course!

This week, it was announced that Zombie Prom, a “musical-comedy homage to the musicals and films of the 1950s” is being adapted for the big screen from the team who brought you Disney’s Teen Beach Movie as well as the grossly under-appreciated musical adaptation of The Witches of Eastwick.

Soska Sisters Will Direct Feature Film Adaptation of Bloody Satire Plastic

Jen and Sylvia Soska, the directing duo behind American Mary, will once again tackle a genre flick about body modification as announced via the Plastic Facebook page. Not much is known about the film — Plastic is based on a novel written by Frank Strausser who penned the screenplay, as well — but the basic premise is being widely reported as, “A celebrated Beverly Hills plastic surgeon risks everything to uncover the truth behind a crime, the disfigurement of an international pop star.”
