Horror Happenings: Eli Roth Going On Tour with THE GREEN INFERNO and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN TV Series Updates

Happy Sunday, horror friends! Welcome back to Horror Happenings. This week, we have exciting news for fans looking forward to the upcoming cannibal movie The Green Inferno and brand new details on the television adaptation of the Swedish vampire novel Let The Right One In. Let’s get to it!

Eli Roth Hitting the Road on A Fan Appreciation Tour For The Green Inferno

It’s been a long and bloody road to bring Eli Roth’s latest horror flick to the big screen. For a while it felt like audiences might never get to see The Green Inferno, but fan support and successful behind-the-scenes negotiations have made it a reality. The cannibal flick is being released by Blumhouse Tilt on September 25 and Roth wants to say thank you to horror fans just like you by setting out on a fan appreciation tour that will, according to Roth, “pull out all the stops” and feature “special surprises in every city.”

The tour kicks off at Wizard World Chicago next Sunday, August 23, and according to the press release, “will include stops in San Francisco on September 14, Los Angeles on September 15, Miami on September 17 and New York on September 21, with additional cities still to be named.”

Roth and I discussed the movie at Nerdist’s Conival stage back in July. Check out our conversation here!

The Green Inferno hits theaters on September 25.

New Details Emerge on A&E’s Proposed Television Adaptation of Let The Right One In

It was announced earlier this year that A&E was looking to bring a version of the Sweedish vampire novel Let The Right One In to television. While we haven’t heard much beyond that, and the show hasn’t been officially ordered to series, we do know that showrunner Jeff Davis –currently overseeing MTV’s Teen Wolf— is developing the project. According to ScreenRant, Davis recently discussed his take on the property were it to go forward to series, explaining that he was looking to the original novel as source material. Davis explained, “The pilot will have elements from the book, but tell a new, different story. It will be, if the series goes forward, a whole lot darker. I never imagined myself doing a vampire show, actually, but something about this one kind of captured me. I don’t know how involved with the show I’ll be if it does move forward, but we’ll see.”

While I don’t really think that every genre movie needs a book to film to television adaptation, I have high hopes for A&E’s upcoming horror show Damien and I am a convert to the church of Bates Motel. I also quite like both movie adaptations of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s book and could see there being real potential to expand on the mythology and the characters presented to audiences already. We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge!
