Horror Happenings: A 4D INSIDIOUS Experience Coming To Your Town, New MAGGIE Clip and More!

Welcome back to Horror Happenings! Lots of fun things hit the web this week and our round up is going to be heavy on video this time around with a preview, a clip and a trailer that will hopefully give you some major chills. Let’s get to it!

Blumhouse Productions Brings Insidious: Into The Further 4D Experience to a Town Near You

After the success of The Purge: Breakout live experience last summer and the other various 4D Blumhouse experiences, Insidious: Into The Further is hitting the road in anticipation for the release of Insidious: Chapter 3 with Elise Ranier (Lin Shaye) serving as your guide on an intense 4D oculus rift experience that will bend your perception of what is ‘real’ and what is ‘the further.’

The experience has already hit Atlanta and Miami and finds itself currently in Chicago with five more cities to go. It’s free (yes, free!) and for those who don’t live close to one of the stops, the virtual reality portion of Into The Further will be released as a downloadable application on iOS and Android devices. To access the experience at home, consumers must use a Google Cardboard virtual reality headset. Headsets will be given away for free through www.facebook.com/insidiousmovie and through select promotional partners.

You can preview the experience in the trailer below and don’t miss Insidious: Chapter 3 in theaters June 5!

Watch A Clip From Zombie Drama Maggie Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin

I’m super disappointed that I missed a screening of Maggie last week here in Los Angeles because I would have some context for the latest clip that was released from director Henry Hobson’s feature film debut, the zombie drama Maggie. From what I gather from those who have seen the film, the clip is a pretty good representation of the movie as it is not so much a fast-paced thriller but more of a family drama.

In any case, just from this clip alone it was nice to see Schwarzenegger in a role that was quiet and stoic to contrast his other cinematic appearance coming later this summer in Terminator Genisys. I’m also curious to see a new spin on the well-worn zombie sub-genre. Maggie will open in select theaters on May 8.

Your Weekend Weirdness: The Tale of Tales Trailer

To close things out this week in Horror Happenings, I figured it might be cool to get a little weird. Or, in the case of the trailer for The Tale of Tales from Gomorrah director Matteo Garrone, a lot weird and I am totally into it. Based on Italian author Giambattista Basile‘s collection of fairy tales that were gathered during the Renaissance, The Tale of Tales stars Salma Hayek, John C. Reilly, Toby Jones and Vincent Cassel and fun fact: will be competing for the Palm d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival this year. There’s not really a synopsis available for the movie so I suggest just watching the trailer for yourself with an open mind. Fair warning: this trailer is NSFW.
