OddLot Entertainment, the production company that brought us Enderâs Game, The Way Way Back, and Drive, has picked up Stephanie Shannonâs script Queen of Hearts and has signed Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief‘s Seth Gordon on to direct, according to Deadline.
Queen of Hearts is a script that has been critically lauded in Hollywood circles. Shannonâs script was not only featured on the 2013 Black List, but also won the Academy Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting competition in the same year.
On top of the script being considered one of the best unproduced scripts of last year, it is also right on trend with Hollywood when it comes to reimagining fairy tales. Weâve seen revisionist takes of Snow White and The Wizard of Oz as of late, and films like Maleficent and Kenneth Branaghâs Cinderella coming soon.
According to Deadline, âThe script is about how a passionate affair that leaves author Lewis Carroll brokenhearted prompts him to craft Alice In Wonderland.â
And to fans of Uncharted who read the news on Nerdist yesterday that Gordon had been tapped to direct the feature adaptation — have no fear; Deadline is also reporting that Uncharted is Gordonâs âfirst priority.â
