Homer’s Enemy Returns to THE SIMPSONS Just in Time for Halloween

Over the course of 27 seasons, the Simpsons family has made a few enemies… including Sideshow Bob, Kang & Kodos, and Gerald, that weird baby with the unibrow who doesn’t like Maggie. But there’s at least one person who hates Homer Simpson like no other, and they’re not letting a little thing like death get in the way of their revenge.

There are spoilers ahead for this year’s Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons. You’ve been warned!

All the way back in the eighth season of The Simpsons, Hank Azaria voiced Frank Grimes, an otherwise unassuming man who overcame the horrible adversity of his life…until he met Homer and was driven insane by his gross incompetence and charmed life. Now, Grimey’s back for the 600th episode of The Simpsons!

Frank Grimes returns

Entertainment Weekly broke the story, and posted an image from the episode of Frank’s ghost alongside Sideshow Bob and either Kang or Kodos as they form an alliance to take down America’s favorite animated family. It actually does make sense for Bob to know about Frank, since he once stopped Frank Grimes, Jr. from murdering Homer. And this will mark Frank Sr.’s first speaking role on the show in the 20 years since his first appearance.

But the bad news is that it appears that this will only be a small cameo in the episode, rather than a full Halloween segment with a team up of Simpsons villains, which just sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Even if Homer does come face-to-face with his greatest enemy, he’d probably just forget him again.

The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXVII will premiere on October 16 on Fox.
