Home Geekonomics: Geeky Cutting Boards for Thanksgiving

Home Geekonomics is a series that features the best in geeky home decor, food and DIY. Each week will focus on a specific fandom and highlight the best of geek for your home and everyday life.

home geekonomicsLet the countdown begin! Thanksgiving is in three weeks and while cooking a turkey dinner is definitely a feat in and of itself, what about serving?

Carving the bird is just as important as getting your gravy just right and no ordinary cutting board will do. It is vital that your cutting board reflect your fandom of choice. Whether you’re dissecting the bird with a Sonic Screwdriver or slashing at it like a mutant, the turkey’s not gonna cut itself, bub.

You can’t possibly have an adventure in space and time without a good carving board. This Tardis cutting board is engraved wood and quick photorealistic, ideal for cutting meat in any space-time continuum.

This beautiful hand painted wood board is too pretty to cut up but would make a nice wall display board pr serving board during tea even if Dr. Watson looks kind of judge-y about it.

This eye-catching Wolverine cutting board is made of wood inlaid into fossilized marbleized bamboo. I’m pretty sure it should only be used with knives made of Adamantium.

When you want to portray an air of sophistication as well as show your allegiance to the Dark Side, a glass damask cutting board will get the job done. You may dispense with the pleasantries, I’m here to put turkey back on the table.

How awesome to get our Enterprise board on this site. Thanks for the recognition!

    • E. says:

It appears to be missing the  NX-01 Enterprise, so fail….

      • Jenn says:

I went back and forth for quite awhile on whether or not to include that one, but in the end I decided to only make one exception to my rule that it had to be a USS Enterprise (the OV-101 shuttle). But I do still have the artwork for it if you wanted a custom lineage board with NX-01 included 🙂

My experience has always been that geeks tend to demand the best from their tools & gadgets, no matter where they’re designed to be used or what their function.
So, that said, it disgusts me that the Vader cutting board is glass. Any halfway competent cook who has ever purchased a knife that didn’t come with the lame “As Seen on TV” image knows you don’t cut on glass unless you hate your knives and want to see how fast you can wreck their blades.

Suprised this list didn’t include this badass licensed cutting board available on ThinkGeek:

The only problem is that it’s so cool I don’t want to cut anything on it. I just want to stare at it.
