It’s beginning to look a lot like Krampus for Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott and Academy Award nominee Toni Collette with both signing on to be terrorized by the Christmas demon in Trick ‘R Treat director Mike Dougherty’s upcoming holiday horror film, The Hollywood Reporter reports. David Koechner has also joined the cast according to The Wrap.
Dougherty co-wrote the script with Todd Casey and Zach Shields. Scott and Collette join a cast that already includes Allison Tolman fresh off her Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated performance in FX’s acclaimed TV adaptation of Fargo and young leading man Emjay Anthony (Chef). Scott and Collette play parents to Anthony while Tolman will play Collette’s sister-in-law.
According to the report, “The story centers on a family that comes under attack from a Santa Claus-like ancient entity who punishes bad kids.” Scott will play an absent and overworked father while Collette has been cast in the traditional “perfect mother” role.
Holidays are hot fodder in horror lately with multiple anthology projects, including Tales of Halloween and the Kevin Smith-led Holidays, currently in some form of production. Smith had also been working on a scary Christmas anthology film of his own titled Anti-Claus with XYZ Films producing.
Dougherty’s Krampus is scheduled to begin production this spring with a release coming in December 2015. If Christmas feels like it’s just too far away, hold yourself over with these Krampus-themed holiday cards courtesy of Dougherty and Legendary Pictures that “wish you a Scary Christmas and a Happy New Fear.”
